Dried

The final page in Anna’s book is progressing. You can see just a tad of Cathe’s image to the right. The subject I chose was the stages of a Christmas Cactus(Schlumbergera) flower. This, the final page, holds a dried/shriveled flower. I stared out using colored pencils and shifted rapidly to watercolors. We shall see how itContinue reading “Dried”

Almost done

Is it done yet? Nope. I thought so initially, but there needs to be more leaf work to tie the pages together. I’ve started planning the back page image of a withered dried up flower, not very beautiful, but that’s the theme of this book, the circle of life.  I’ve never spent this much timeContinue reading “Almost done “

And a bit more…

Slowly but surely my body is coming back into line. From a kidney infection to discovering the final gluten toxin destroying my intestines (hidden inside my multi vitamins- labeled gluten free but not since they don’t  know what’s going on with their ingredient suppliers). More Progress

I’m determined to get Anna’s book completed by years end. So, that would be by tomorrow night! Yikes! Nothing like a good deadline to move projects along. Sally Mander

Slowly the front page of Karen’s book is coming together. It’s been another crazy couple of days and I’m just sitting down for a little sketch time. So far I’ve laid out the salamander body. Why a salamander? I have no idea, but it just seemed like a fun forest critter to add. It didContinue reading “Sally Mander”

Eye

A Belgium draft horse, belonging to a dear friend, became my subject matter for today’s drawing of an eye. I love going out to their farm to see the critters. Giant horses, sheep, and plenty of wildlife. During the summer, their garden is huge! So much time and care involved with everything on the property.Continue reading “Eye”

Old sketches

Life has been rather emotionally swamped this week. Artwork has been put aside so as to start working on clearing out my parents home. The insurance company came by Thursday and drop off the check for the totaled VW.  This weekend, there is a scheduled meeting of the siblings to determine what to do withContinue reading “Old sketches”
