Sunday with Lee

Sunday happened to be Father’s Day so I wanted to make something positive happen in my dad’s surroundings. Nothing better than cleaning the upstairs windows. Their last cleaning was probably done by my mother over 2 years ago. Definitely in need of a sprucing up!

This is the view looking out onto the back deck from the dining room.  Boy, what a bright day! I’m still learning how to navigate the new phone for taking photos.

When you look up, you see one of the 4  skylights. Yes, that is a pyramid form that vaults above the ceiling. My father designed and built the house before I was born.

The one set of windows not accomplished are located in the stairwell. These are going to be tough! I did manage to remove all the spider webs. Maybe I’ll wash on Tuesday.

While I was removing spiderwebs from the upstairs, I ran across a photo of my grandmother taken  during the 1915 World’s Fair in San Francisco. She had met a young man from India who took a shine to her and paid to have her photo taken. He also sent, later on, a beautiful sculpture of the Taj Mahal in bone. One section was broken so she threw it out. That was a mistake she regretted for the rest of her life (which was quite long).
