Beatrice was quiet and shy at first. She was a bit tense as we sat over a cup of tea to talk. I suspected she was a little nervous. Once Beatrice started talking about art her bubbly, cheerful, down to earth personality unfolded.

Like most artistBeatrice2s Beatrice liked art as a child and took art classes in school because, as she put it, “They were the only classes I was really good at and could get an A in”. Born in Chicago and moving around living in many places Beatrice did not come from an artistically rich family background. She attributes her ‘Granny Gray’ with her introduction to art. While living in California Beatrice attended the San Francisco Art Institute for a year. Upon moving to Oregon in 1971 Beatrice began a twenty year journey toward a BFA from OSU.
