Yesterday I sat myself down during the afternoon & evening to get the account up and selling on Etsy. It was quite an experience involving a steep learning curve. I must admit that I’ve not started my own business before and I’m feeling overwhelmed & kind of confused at how to approach everything. PayPal is set. Site views are rolling in. I already have people including me in their favorites. Good right? My dear friend Cynthia even plugged me on her NicePots & Corvallis Fall Festival FB site. I’ve started adding friends to my circle cause it seems like the right thing to do. Building friendships and connections via the web. I’m already fairly comfortable with that sort of thing due to the blog.
So what areas are giving me pain? Part of my problem is feeling like I need to have everything PERFECTLY worked out before setting it in motion. Lets just say I pushed over that mental boundary to get the site up. There are sections yet to be filled in and figured out. Welcome message, shop message, email/shipping message? I can handle the About message. Shipping? I would love to ship to other countries yet don’t quite understand everything involved. I’ll get there. Should I offer it Priority or just regular mail? I first listed it priority, then shifted to standard first class. I have to keep reminding myself that “this is a learning experience & learning is good!” Right?
The photos uploaded feel good to me, thanks to the comments from Sarah Jane & Cynthia. Natural mid-day light worked it’s wonders. Who knows, maybe someone will actually purchase some ornaments in the coming weeks. They have brought in some sales in gallery settings but the last couple of winter holiday seasons have been overwhelmed with family mayhem. It would sure be nice to have them bring joy to other people rather than remain boxed up & unloved.
Today I have a short work session at Fall Festival. 2012 will mark our 40th celebration and my final year with the festival. The meeting will be focusing on the Fine Arts Showcase which will actually be housed at The Arts Center! Yippee! Real gallery walls!!!! Space for more artists and hopefully a longer show. After the meeting I’ll be heading to Georgies for clay. Special holiday project time. Also need to get some photos taken of other items for sale… daylight might be a problem. Oh, and the daily dog walks. Somehow it will all work out. Just wish it was sunny rather than dense fog.
5 days left until Dave returns from China. I’m missing my home buddy & dog wrangler! Oh and a big happy birthday to my nephew Bryant who turns 25 today! What joy he brings us all! 🙂

Our community has been so fortunate to have you in the role of Assistant Director of Fall Festival! You have rocked the house! Thrilled to hear Fine Art Showcase is moving to the Art Center. That seems like such a logical location with greater appeal to the masses! Woot!
You’re right Ella, FAS is certainly deserving of a move into a real gallery space for one special year. We will be trying to make the 40th one to remember for all who participate!!!
