Life in the Willamette valley has been a tad wet. Multiple fronts have moved in off the Pacific bringing inches of rain per day, high winds, flooding, downed trees & land slides. The freezing level yo-yo’d around from valley floor (200′) up to 8,000′. When I wrote last about not believing in snow for theContinue reading “Rain, flooding & generally soggy days”

Shooting Star Flower
The Shooting Star print will be moving out the door for a show in January/February 2012. The Epiphany Festival of the Arts will be held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Corvallis. I’m looking forward to having more people see my work. I’ll probably be dropping off 2 to 3 botanical imagesContinue reading “Shooting Star Flower”

We were traveling to Eugene for the family crab feed and I actually had the camera (amazing cause I always forget). Dave managed to find a couple of good pull-offs along Peoria Rd. Making Paper: The Start – Harvesting plants
Since taking a workshop back in July 2010, I’ve been seriously contemplating creating my own paper from start to finish. This is the year to go for it! I’ll be utilizing a couple of books written by Helen Hiebert, an amazing paper artist in Portland (and the one I took a Paper in 3D classContinue reading “Making Paper: The Start – Harvesting plants”
South Sister Hike
The last time I attempted to climb South Sister was way back in the late 70’s. I was probably 8 or 9 and my family hiked into Green Lake and camped out with friends. During the night a horrible storm passed through bringing rain, sleet & snow. By morning everything was white and clouded in.Continue reading “South Sister Hike”
Creating Cards
I have been looking around the studio in search of cards to sell during the upcoming event in July and discovered only one left. Wow, guess it’s time to get cracking on more! The last set were actually scrounged leftovers from a different project. Too many House 4E prayer flags created on paper so IContinue reading “Creating Cards”
Spring Frog
Resting next to a 1.5″ wide post, this guy/gal certainly isn’t large. We’ve reached the time of the year when they become more visible around the house exterior. I almost stepped on one last week resting near the front door. Our warmish temps have started to bring out the reptiles too. More snake sighting inContinue reading “Spring Frog”
Bringing in the pro!
I passed along a few dollars to one of our local photographers, Harold Wood, for some stunning images. Harold’s work is tops! Now I have images of the two works for the Ag show plus a stunning pix of my leaf coat from 2009. Here are the results: Journal Entry: February 1, 2011, mixed mediaContinue reading “Bringing in the pro!”
Forest Project Continued
With the initial “Walk in the Woods” project completed, gears are shifting to tackle the next. I’ve decided to approach the art through printmaking and cube construction. A total of 7+ cubes will be created, depending on time, and will relay a visual story of a hike through the forest during the month of February.Continue reading “Forest Project Continued”
