Insects in the garden

The garden continues to ramp up production. More zucchini, cukes, kale, and peas. Pole beans will start blooming in the next 2 days. Tomatoes continue to ripen, but what really captures my attention are all the insects! The Catnip was swarming with bees and small butterflies this afternoon. I could spend hours there watching allContinue reading “Insects in the garden”

Garden Growth

It’s the end of July and things are definitely growing! We’ve just had a week of high temps in the 90’s which made us shrink into our air conditioned home, but the plants have loved the heat. Zucchinis have graced our plates once so far and cucumbers have been on our salad three times. KaleContinue reading “Garden Growth”

Bright Days of Spring

I’ve finally been able to step outside to commence work on the vegetable garden. Our weather is warming with nights no longer dipping into the freezing zone. The grass growing season is well upon us (and the riding mower is broken)! Picture about 2-3ft of grass height surrounding the veg boxes. Thank goodness for stringContinue reading “Bright Days of Spring”

Peep, Cluck and Baaa

We made it through week 2 of Stay-at-Home/ Pandemic time! Creative energy took a different shift yet again. I can blame the online-felt-along: Chicks. Creating birds is completely new to me, especially with their thin legs and crazy feet. This challenge helped me grasp wrapping bird feet and setting up a wax station to keepContinue reading “Peep, Cluck and Baaa”

Fox Time

I’ve been switching sites for the wildlife camera and was pleased to find a Grey Fox passing through our yard! We’re actually part of it’s nightly rounds and I have shifted from photo to video mode. Every morning I gleefully pull out the little SD card and put it into the reader slot of theContinue reading “Fox Time”

Life speed ahead!

It’s almost September! Am I freaking out yet? YES!!! Looking back over the past couple of months I realized how little I’ve been contributing on this site. Where did that last posting go (besides being filed in my brain)? Why didn’t I add the completed book page? Sitka Class? Felted creatures?  I seem to beContinue reading “Life speed ahead!”

Cat Fun

Me Me kitty can be a good sport, sometimes. Today she allowed a few fashion snaps of the felted cat hair hat created from just two days of combing. She’s not impressed! At 16, the queen begrudgingly shares the house with 2 rambunctious young calicoes, 2 dogs, one screaming cockatoo, and her house slaves. SheContinue reading “Cat Fun”

Welcome 2019!

Good bye 2018! Hello 2019! You already look like a year poised on art potential! You’re a clean slate, a brand new sketchbook waiting for pages to be filled, a fresh box of sharp crayons (cause who didn’t love opening a new box with their sharp unblemished tips and colors!) Fingers crossed with keeping theContinue reading “Welcome 2019!”

Thinking South

I’m having a hard time figuring out what to focus energy on today. So many things are jumping through my brain. The dogs, amazingly enough, have already been walked (we had a break in the rain). Cats have received a fair amount of attention. There are several errands to run, groceries &  laundry. I haveContinue reading “Thinking South”

Home Again, Home Again Jiggity Jig

On my last day in Bend, I took the boys out to Sparks Lake along the Cascades Lakes Highway. We walked along part of the lake, watched people toss huge rocks out onto the ice. I’m back home. Dogs and cats are super happy that I’m home. It was an amazing experience and I hopeContinue reading “Home Again, Home Again Jiggity Jig”
