I skipped last Friday’s blog posting. Life has been pretty overwhelming and new items were not coming together. However, this week has been full of activity: Sunday set-up of the window at Footwise. Orders are almost here! More orders have been placed and (fingers crossed) will arrive before the event! Hurrah! A new drawing startedContinue reading “Put a Chicken on it!”

Slow drawing
Another week closer to the open studio tour and I’ve been working on drawings. I pulled out three incomplete images to finish. 1: black capped chickadee. 2: Ewe 183. 3: winter warbler. The Chickadee is similar to my first pyrography and colored pencils experiment. I think it will be lovely once completed. Ewe 183: IContinue reading “Slow drawing”
Lioness WIP
Drawing is my greatest nemesis that causes uncomfortable brain challenges, but pastels might prove to be a way in overcoming the pain. I’ve become glued to several YouTube channels over the past few months with one being a UK pastel artist who gives incredible tutorials. Since I’ve been floating around in the art world notContinue reading “Lioness WIP”
A new project
The weather is hot and I’m spending time inside with the AC, 32C is warmer than I can handle! My creative gears have shifted once again back into possible images for a couple of fundraisers. The above pooch belongs to a dog friend and photographer. I’ve not actually met this pup, but she’s beautiful andContinue reading “A new project”
Always learning
The past several weeks have been filled with a tumultuous upheaval of our society. Black Lives Matter! I can’t fathom what it’s like to grow up black in America. All I can say is I’m listening and trying to learn more. I’m still shocked at the lack of movement forward in the past 100+ years.Continue reading “Always learning”
Backyard Wildlife Book Collaboration
Two years ago I created a hand-made book full of blank pages for 4 other artists (plus myself) to fill in. The title was “Backyard Wildlife” and totally open for the other artists to interpret this idea. We all live in different parts of the world: Karen and Anna are in Australia, Rebecca in Sweden,Continue reading “Backyard Wildlife Book Collaboration”
Isn’t He Done Yet?
Why do I keep picking at this image? It keeps festering on the drawingboard, receiving more marks in different areas, resolving questionable zones. I think I’m finally satisfied enough with his nose and the pencil is moving down into the muzzle zone. His chin hair is crazy! Do I really try to capture it orContinue reading “Isn’t He Done Yet?”
Moby continues
A bit more work today on my crazy boy. Moby is slowly emerging from his favorite blue chair. I don’t think I’ll add color to him directly, just the blue chair and shadow. I’ll have to wrap him up by Friday so other projects can get underway. Graphite pencil and watercolor
Life speed ahead!
It’s almost September! Am I freaking out yet? YES!!! Looking back over the past couple of months I realized how little I’ve been contributing on this site. Where did that last posting go (besides being filed in my brain)? Why didn’t I add the completed book page? Sitka Class? Felted creatures? I seem to beContinue reading “Life speed ahead!”
A little more work
I’m finally sitting back down in the studio to work on the dog drawing. It’s definitely a work in progress. Ears, eyes, nose, and mouth zone keep shifting as more information gets laid down. Life has been a jumble of so many things that I’ve had a hard time sorting out daily tasks. Arthritis flair-upsContinue reading “A little more work”
