Zeek Progress

With illness abated and energy levels rising, I’m finally starting to focus on printmaking again.  Zeek received a little attention today and proofed in black ink. I’m slowly sneaking up on his nose because it’s one area I feel less confident. Nose texture is so different than hair!  The teeth, tongue and gums are alsoContinue reading “Zeek Progress”

Starting Zeek

Dog Block print#5. Oh, my dear fuzzy friend Zeek.  He’s become quite a lovely Labradoodle as he’s grown up. His big brother Reggie was my second attempt at doggie block prints.  Now it’s time for this curly guy. The image was taken last fall during my dad’s wake. Working from the photo, I transferred theContinue reading “Starting Zeek”

Screen Woes

I feel like I’ve stacked the deck for failure with this print by incorporating way too many variables. First, I chose to use a different screen and registration system. Both of which are yielding enormous headaches on their own. Then I chose an image with  multiple value changes. Not a horrible thing, but certainly moreContinue reading “Screen Woes”

New print start

Finally, a new print started! Below is a photo of the white screen with the initial dose of screen filler. Voila! Color! The first color down and it’s certainly peachy. We shall see how the colors shift in this image (I’m not certain at the moment which is the fun part).  You can probably tellContinue reading “New print start”

Mystery Screen: color 4

It’s not much of a mystery any more. Yes, this color certainly brought out the “dog” in the print. I’ve been having fun working with the same container of ink but just altering the values as I go. Add a little more blue, more red, more extender and there ya go. Mr “Counter Surfer” extraordinaireContinue reading “Mystery Screen: color 4”

Discovering Lost Blocks

April is looming! Especially since I have a 2 person show of dog prints and my print portfolio hasn’t increased much over the past year. You may think that’s months away, right?  Well, I don’t work quickly on prints when my brain is taxed with other events. To help clear mental cobwebs, I spent aContinue reading “Discovering Lost Blocks”

Check list

Whew, this has been a full day. Here were some of the things checked off my list: New project completed and delivered! Positive comments flowed from some of the exhibition committee members packing up the plankton show. No completed photos yet. I’ll take some once the show opens. A little time away from the pieceContinue reading “Check list”

Redirecting daily routines

First off, we did put George down on Monday night. I was horribly sad but relieved to let him go from his failing body. The household feels void of a certain energy now. So much extra care has always enveloped our senior dogs that it’s taking a bit of time to readjust.  Moby and IContinue reading “Redirecting daily routines”

New snow for a new month

It’s always surprising to wake to a dusting of snow here in the Willamette Valley. We received (at our location) about an inch. Just enough to coat our normally green & brown landscape. and then the sun came up … The dogs always enjoy goofing around in the snow, no matter what the age. ThisContinue reading “New snow for a new month”
