Border Collie completed

Slowly the “to do” list is decreasing as 2019 comes to a close. Today I dropped off this cute Border Collie destined to reside in California. I hope it brings joy to it’s new owner. The people sending it were thrilled with the pup. Hearts are happy all around! I think I’ll be pushing theContinue reading “Border Collie completed”

Border Collie #3 start

Sculpture Day: Another rough dog form has taken shape. Currently the neck and tail are too long, but should be able to solve the problem before coat application. This one is heading off to another artist who is one of the most amazing calligraphers. Her mother just passed away and apparently there’s a connection betweenContinue reading “Border Collie #3 start”

Sheep to Yarn Experiment

A few years ago (2016) I pondered and acted upon the question “how does one process wool and create yarn?” Thanks to several friends and lots of You Tube searches I set forth on the wool/yarn learning pathway. It’s taken several years and countless hours working with the Physical Therapist (not easy for my spine/backContinue reading “Sheep to Yarn Experiment”

Dog Distractions

I’m not certain what’s happened to this weekend, except we have an extra dog. Ms Maggie came for a short visit while her parents have a dog free mini-vacation. She’s not a stranger to our home, typically visiting several times a year. This particular visit has been extra enjoyable, probably due to only having one dog and theContinue reading “Dog Distractions”

Pumpkin Carving

Life is just flying by and I can’t believe the week is almost over. Wednesday we had Round#2 of preview tours for the open studio event. Incredible weather and a fabulous group of artists, I couldn’t have asked for a better night out. If you don’t get the opportunity to see me this weekend, haveContinue reading “Pumpkin Carving”

Dog print show: final week

The dogs will be returning home after a month on view at The Arts Center of Corvallis. Their final day is Saturday May 25, noon to 5pm. If you do make it in, please make sure to visit BOTH gallery spaces (yes, they are split between two areas). Wander into the back office/staff space toContinue reading “Dog print show: final week”

Blue Ball

The 12th and final image for the show. Rogue is finally printed. The images will be on display from April 30 to May 25  in the Corrine Woodman Gallery at The Arts Center of Corvallis OR. Oh, there has been a request for all the images on cards (Maria!) and it could happen. I’ll startContinue reading “Blue Ball”

Blue Dog: Is it finished??

How much more can I go? Well, it looks like one more step might do it.  Right now, the image is not fully resolved. My value shifts were not dramatic enough to really push the coat changes (which makes it readable from a greater distance). So, now I ponder creating one more screen using aContinue reading “Blue Dog: Is it finished??”

Darkening the dog

There are always parts I want to go back change in any of my prints. Certain sections that should have received more shadow, certain colors that really didn’t alter much. For the most part, I think it’s going alright (except for that foot). I’m still learning how far to push values and resolving an image.Continue reading “Darkening the dog”

Dog Form Emerging

Sunday I managed to lay down more color on Hobie. The shifts are small between the three images, but it should make an overall difference by the final product. I have one week remaining before taking all the completed work in for the show!!! Yikes!!! The image is printed on white, not a creamy/peachy coloredContinue reading “Dog Form Emerging”
