Morning results are interesting as we travel along this roller coaster ride. Evelyn has been very talkative this morning according to Kim. She, Lee & Tom are all with her right now. Her platelet count is down to 18k this morning. She did not receive the radiation yesterday because her platelet count was too low.Continue reading “Cannulas and whole blood”

And yet another development…
As I published the last post, the phone rang. Kim called to let us know she and Lee were called by Evelyn. Apparently the radiation treatment didn’t happen because “she was lacking something” (this according to Evelyn). She was also reporting yogurt being fed into her veins. Hummm… she must be on some good drugsContinue reading “And yet another development…”
Ace up their sleeve?
The doctors pulled out a different card today, kind of the last resort. Her spleen is apparently still enlarging and could possibly rupture. Radiation might help slow things down. Like with cancer radiation can help shrink things to a more reasonable size. Evelyn is not a candidate for surgery, certain death on the table. IfContinue reading “Ace up their sleeve?”
bad news
Just received phone call from Kim. Evelyn is heading down hill rapidly. No good. I’m heading to Eugene to meet up with everyone-
ICU deja vu
Being back in ICU with Evelyn is all too familiar. We are already seeing the same nurses from five months ago & the trip down the hallway isn’t as disconcerting as the initial visit. Platelet Count
When Evelyn arrived at Riverbend her platelet count was 4,000. As of this morning she had raised to 27,000. Normal platelet levels are 150,000 to 450,000.
Congestive Heart Failure: Not fun!
Evelyn has shifted into a zone none of us wanted her to enter. We’re in a waiting game at the moment.

Cancel coast
Looks like Lee will return to Yachats this afternoon and not need my help. Oh well! There will certainly be plenty more opportunities to come. I cleaned the studio yesterday and it’s ready for a new mess. Maybe I will get a project accomplished before the community open. Time to order more pig gut andContinue reading “Cancel coast”
Heading to the Coast…
Two storms have battered the coastline and valley over the past week. Nothing very surprising for January. The first occurred Sunday night while we were bottling beer. Lights flickered several times and went out briefly. It was fortunate to not lose it entirely. Certainly would have made a more memorable bottling experience. Photos to comeContinue reading “Heading to the Coast…”
