Cold

Bone chilling temperatures are not part of our typical winter vocabulary here in the  Willamette Valley. Our normal December highs are in the mid 40’s, lows in the mid 30’s. Over the past 10 days we’ve been below freezing (day and night) with several nights reaching low single digits and even sub temps. Tuesday wasContinue reading “Cold”

Vet time

I’ve been a giant slacker with blog posting due to our crazy household and lack of art creation. We just passed the Week 2 mark with the new dogs. They’re acclimating but I’ve never experienced such horrible dog breath in my life!! These two enjoy giving smooches and breathing right in your face. Blech! WasContinue reading “Vet time”

Cacophony of Chainsaws

This morning I woke to chainsaws at 6:45 am. Our property backs up to BPA land (Bonneville Power Admin) with large electrical towers. About 8 years ago, and we’ve been here for the past 17, they started coming through clearing the land every fall & spring. All trees and brush are whacked down. Initially itContinue reading “Cacophony of Chainsaws”

Dog print show: final week

The dogs will be returning home after a month on view at The Arts Center of Corvallis. Their final day is Saturday May 25, noon to 5pm. If you do make it in, please make sure to visit BOTH gallery spaces (yes, they are split between two areas). Wander into the back office/staff space toContinue reading “Dog print show: final week”

Crazy Fur

The elusive Zeek starting to emerge… Eventually I’ll have to start work on his nose.  Labradoodles have the craziest coats, curls in one area then wavy hair in others. Beards too, kind of like Moby. Maybe that’s why I enjoy their look. Proofed in a new Burnt Sienna ink, just for the fun of it.Continue reading “Crazy Fur”

Zeek Progress

With illness abated and energy levels rising, I’m finally starting to focus on printmaking again.  Zeek received a little attention today and proofed in black ink. I’m slowly sneaking up on his nose because it’s one area I feel less confident. Nose texture is so different than hair!  The teeth, tongue and gums are alsoContinue reading “Zeek Progress”

Starting Zeek

Dog Block print#5. Oh, my dear fuzzy friend Zeek.  He’s become quite a lovely Labradoodle as he’s grown up. His big brother Reggie was my second attempt at doggie block prints.  Now it’s time for this curly guy. The image was taken last fall during my dad’s wake. Working from the photo, I transferred theContinue reading “Starting Zeek”

A lot of Reggie!

Yesterday afternoon during a torrential downpour, I worked my way through part of an edition of Reggie dog.  Today I pulled them out from under the blotters and sorted quality. Looks like five don’t make the cut so far. Still wondering how large an edition I should create. How many Labradoodle lovers are out thereContinue reading “A lot of Reggie!”

Labradoodle print: second try

It’s always so easy to make a wrong cut when working with block prints. On examination of the first block I realized Reggie’s lower jaw had just become hair. So, I pulled out another block and started over. It’s getting pretty close to completion now!
