Triangle Accordion Book Tutorial

I’m not a real book artist but have fun creating them from time to time. I also don’t use the proper terminology in explanations.  LT in the UK inquired about some of the accordion book processes and I thought it was a great time to re-explore a past book design. Not every step is fullyContinue reading “Triangle Accordion Book Tutorial”

Whew! The end of the month and many projects accomplished! The biggest thing off my plate happens to be the donation for The Arts Center… Stroll in the Woods will be up for sale during Chocolate Fantasy. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the AC. Chocolate Fantasy Donation

On March 2, 2012, The Arts Center will be hosting their grand benefit called Chocolate Fantasy. Yes,with chocolate in the title, who wouldn’t want to attend? They have also roped in basketball coach Craig Robinson ( that’s Michelle Obama’s brother for those outside the area) who will be helping MC the event.  Besides the culinaryContinue reading “Chocolate Fantasy Donation”

Rain, flooding & generally soggy days

Life in the Willamette valley has been a tad wet. Multiple fronts have moved in off the Pacific bringing inches of rain per day, high winds, flooding, downed trees & land slides. The freezing level yo-yo’d around from valley floor (200′) up to 8,000′. When I wrote last about not believing in snow for theContinue reading “Rain, flooding & generally soggy days”

Bowls and prints out the door!

I had a few side emails from friends & family wondering how the bowls turned out. Nothing exploded in the kiln, which is a good thing! They were plopped into the kiln on the damp side after glazing. Those muffled thuds must have come from the neighbors house, not my garage. This is all aContinue reading “Bowls and prints out the door!”

Portal Project: Specimen 379 almost complete!

A foggy grey day has greeted us on 11.11.11 here in the Willamette Valley. Not terribly surprising since it was so foggy last night on the dog walk (but under the full moon light!). This morning I plugged in the sculpture to enjoy it’s glow while sipping a cup of tea & listening to Debussy.Continue reading “Portal Project: Specimen 379 almost complete!”

Portals Project: day 8

Today progress was made!  The casement finally fits the sculpture. This took many hours of increasing the interior dimensions to squeeze the piece in. Lots of sanding & chisel work. Probably would have been easier if I had just gone out and purchased new wood.  I also tested the lighting just for fun.  Ahh, it’sContinue reading “Portals Project: day 8”

Portals project: day 6?

Here are images of the covered piece. Looking  a bit like alien tissue samples or possibly dragon. Hummm….. another world! close up look: the flip side: Lighting and framing to come. Picked up some short LED strips at IKEA on Sunday. Think they will work just fine except the cords are so horribly long. Shortening?Continue reading “Portals project: day 6?”
