Really looking forward to seeing all the works in person. Hope to see some of you there! 🙂
Pug time!
Here comes Annie, bursting through the block. She lives in Corvallis with an incredible family I dearly love. Four in all: Bruce works with my husband Dave, Ella is a phenomenal mosaic artist (Sacred Shard Mosaics) plus good friend, and the girls are just the best (artists, athletes…. you name it!! They graciously share Annie’s home, because you know who rules the roost!
I must admit starting in on a short haired dog kind of scared me. However, Annie has great wrinkles that express so much emotion. And those eyes, holy cow! In the photo she is wearing a fabulous multicolored scarf. Hum, maybe I’ll have to do a little chine colle for color. We shall see! Annie’s block measures 7″x 7″.
Rogue will be slipping in soon. I just need to get back into printing mode again before finishing his block. I’ve had enough mistakes.
A little Emma time
Thanksgiving is this next week and my house is a total disaster. Rather than start cleaning, I started printing & making a larger mess. It had been several weeks since last working on this block and I determined that wasn’t good. Especially after I started cutting away more. But other art projects needed my attention and then there was the mental anguish of putting down a beloved bird friend of over 20 years. Life with only 2 cockatiels? I never would have imagined it last year at this time. Illness and ultimately cancer diagnosis sealed his fate. He lived a grand life. Monday we find out the cancer level in with my father-in-law. Esophageal cancer. Really? Life sure moves in mysterious ways.
Time for more art & cleaning therapy!
A lot of Reggie!
Yesterday afternoon during a torrential downpour, I worked my way through part of an edition of Reggie dog. Today I pulled them out from under the blotters and sorted quality. Looks like five don’t make the cut so far. Still wondering how large an edition I should create. How many Labradoodle lovers are out there that might like one?

Here is the original image.

Portal Project: Specimen 379 almost complete!
A foggy grey day has greeted us on 11.11.11 here in the Willamette Valley. Not terribly surprising since it was so foggy last night on the dog walk (but under the full moon light!). This morning I plugged in the sculpture to enjoy it’s glow while sipping a cup of tea & listening to Debussy. I think I like it. Kind of a funny statement from the artist, but true. I don’t always like projects when finished. Sometimes you have to live with it a while before accepting it as your own creation. This one won’t hang around home much longer. Delivery to The Arts Center will happen on Sunday. Someone out there will find it interesting and give it a good home (hopefully at a good price). The Silent Auction starts on November 26th.
Whats remaining before completion? The stand that houses the transformer and wires looks clean & has plenty of room. Still have trim to attach that will keep the main sculpture in place but allow air flow. Guess I also need to shorten the wiring inside. 6+ feet of extra wires bundled up underneath is not necessary. A felt bottom will also be attached. It also needs to be signed & labeled.  Below are the current images of Side A & Side B

Overall size: Length:12″ Width: 6.5″Â Height: 19″

Terrier Print: day 3
Terrier on a Bench Print: day 2
Ah, the best way to spend a birthday is by working on art! Emma’s wavy chest hairs have taken form. Feet are taking form too. This print will probably be titled “Sit”. Tomorrow I’ll need to get back to work on the Portal piece since the due date is approaching. Then there is the Nov 17th critique night…. will I have something for that event??
No worries right now. Think it’s time for a good dog walk up in the woods!
Terrier on a Bench: day 1 progress
Terrier on a Bench Print: start
I’m procrastinating heading into the DMV to renew my license. So like all good art procrastinators, I started a new project. Emma belongs to Cynthia & Patrick. The end block print will be 6″x 8″. Why green? I like to use pigment inks to test images rather than inking up a roller and making a big mess. Never liked rubbing graphite or crayon over paper for the test.
I’m guessing the original image was taken up at a local park.
