Time keeps on ticking…. It’s certainly been a busy couple of weeks since last writing. The kiln has been glaze fired twice with a bunch of failed pieces, but also some success. Is it enough for a booth of work? Not even close! So I’m still in production mode for the next week to getContinue reading “33 days till load in”

51 days remaining
It’s Tuesday and I’m glazing. I was glazing yesterday too. Will probably have a few more days of glazing to go before loading the kiln. Several weeks ago I started preparing with a bit of sieving and water balancing of dipping glazes. This first act turned into a giant mess when my sieve of greenContinue reading “51 days remaining”
The count down to the first show
I thought it might be fun to track progress towards my first weekend art event in 2025. This will be my first solo 10ft x 10 ft booth. Art & Wine in the Garden will be held at Garland Nursery, a local independent small business between Albany and Corvallis . The event will be onContinue reading “The count down to the first show”
Fast and arty in all directions
Another crazy art week has passed with new items sprouting up everywhere plus several gatherings with beloved friends. Above is the pastel set I ordered from the UK. So looking forward to playing with these soon!!! I spent a day working on felting bear heads in an attempt to better grasp what I’m envisioning withContinue reading “Fast and arty in all directions”
Combining Techniques
Eventually I’ll be posting a video, but things are not quite to that stage yet. I started experimenting with combining fish prints, a lithography technique and thrown ceramic forms. In the end, it becomes yet another way to transfer prints to volumetric forms, but my prints to be exact! It was a rocky start and ratherContinue reading “Combining Techniques”
Different ideas, similar approach
It’s Tuesday and I’m taking a ceramics day. The garage is finally clear enough to set up the wheel and pull out tools. On Monday I watched a nice piece on printing lithographs onto clay. The ingredients were quite straight forward: Linseed oil, Gum Arabic, Mason Stains, water, sponges, and toner based copies of artwork.Continue reading “Different ideas, similar approach”
Artists Running Amok- part 1
Oh yes, last night we sprinted between studios during the first night of pre-tour for the 2015 Philomath Open Studios. We managed to make it to 9 out of 17 studios. We have one more night to cover the remaining 8. Saturday, the studios all open at noon for the public. Let the sales begin!Continue reading “Artists Running Amok- part 1”
Art in the hot garden
Saturday was humid and hot. Driving over, I actually encountered a pretty good rain shower, then had a touch more right at opening. With the spotting of rain, the humidity pushed way up and probably kept us from getting to 100 F. Instead we made it into the mid 90’s. The garden was spectacular and crammed withContinue reading “Art in the hot garden”
Sunsets and a new year
Happy New Year! I’ve managed to spend the last couple of days in bed ill. Not may favorite way to start a new year. On Thursday night we had one of the most spectacular sunsets. Very interesting cloud formations with gold, pinks, oranges and violets extending over the valley. Stunning! The new year started withContinue reading “Sunsets and a new year”
Mug Experiment
I must admit, it’s rather strange seeing my artwork placed upon a generic white coffee/tea mug. One of my local art friends had recommended Zazzle as a good resource for creating functional ware with your own art images. So I thought “What the heck, I might as well give it a try to see whatContinue reading “Mug Experiment”
