Artists Running Amok- part 1

Oh yes, last night we sprinted between studios during the first night of pre-tour for the 2015 Philomath Open Studios. We managed to make it to 9 out of 17 studios. We have one more night to cover the remaining 8. Saturday, the studios all open at noon for the public. Let the sales begin!Continue reading “Artists Running Amok- part 1”

Public Art: Boise Style

I always feel fortunate when the opportunity arises to visit a larger city outside my normal stomping grounds. One thing that always shines is the public art. There were many works to visit and only a few captured by camera as we wandered around on First Thursday. Amy Nack provided Rose and I with aContinue reading “Public Art: Boise Style”

Critters, Vet time and Mosaics

This morning I woke to my furry household members demanding food. Feeding critters is always the first thing on the agenda. With one bouncy dog (Moby) and one ever watchful arthritic geriatric dog (George), the cat (Nigel) typically jumps right in for his share of attention. But today was different. He normally begs  & criesContinue reading “Critters, Vet time and Mosaics”

Artists@Work: Day 17

Today was the last Saturday of our exhibit and the Seed Pod workshop. Not knowing how many people would attend the workshop or how to deal with people coming in at different times was hard, but my two helpers did an excellent job! A total of 15 people came to play in paper, including  theContinue reading “Artists@Work: Day 17”

Artists@Work: Day 16

Only Saturday, Tuesday & Wednesday left in the show! Friday’s progress: I managed to get out and purchase quite a few rolls of paper before heading into the “studio” and managed to cover over half of the structure. Kind of a ghostly skeleton branch structure. I’m thinking the leaves will remain uncovered for now. ManyContinue reading “Artists@Work: Day 16”

Artists@Work: Day 15

There are only a few days remaining in this show. If you have not been by to see it, you better do it soon! Julia hung some of her finished work up a few days ago. She mentioned this is part of her routine when working. Is it done yet or not? It’s also beenContinue reading “Artists@Work: Day 15”

Artists@Work: Day 12 to 14

Rain and grey skies filled this Sunday at the Arts Center. The number of people visiting was certainly diminished from the previous day. I think all of our energy had slipped out the door after Saturday. It would have been a good day to rest. We all had some lovely conversations with people. Friends cameContinue reading “Artists@Work: Day 12 to 14”

Artists@Work: day 8

Day 8: First off, I forgot to take photos today. The camera was in my bag but I neglected to pull it out.  Sorry folks! Tomorrow I promise to update you all. The artists talk drew in a large crowd, about 35 people. A huge thanks to all who attended. It was wonderful seeing soContinue reading “Artists@Work: day 8”

Artists@Work: Day 7

The start of a new week and new possibilities! Will it be a productive day or not? I think it turned out rather ok. It’s been interesting watching the others create throughout the days and realize how similar we react to a problem. I find that when a problem really stumps me, I just moveContinue reading “Artists@Work: Day 7”

Artists@Work: day 6

Saturdays have a more laid back feeling at the Arts Center.  Since I was unable to participate on day 5, it was great to see the other artists progression. Kendal went to town with recycled items.  Her main table space was filled with multiple ongoing projects. Below are several recycled material mosaics. Below she usedContinue reading “Artists@Work: day 6”
