What happens after a big project ends? This is probably the time I dislike the most, the time when you’re not certain what path to take. Where should I go next? What should I focus on? I’m pretty sure loads of people love that open option, but I struggle with being confronted with an openContinue reading “Finding my Footing”

Under the weather
Last week equated to zero art and lots of recovery. I managed to finally receive a third shot of Pfizer! Hurray! However, my body really disliked this third round. It doesn’t get easier for my body to deal with the experience and it used pretty much the entire 72 hours to recover. Once it leftContinue reading “Under the weather”
On the flip side
While the Chihuahua waits for spray fixative before continuing forward, I decided to start another image on the back side of the board. The drawing board takes up quite a bit of studio space when propped on boxes. It was from my father’s collection and first belonged to the University of Oregon school of Architecture. IContinue reading “On the flip side”
Adding more
Ears are one of those areas I really don’t feel comfortable drawing. If a dog’s ears flop over, then you don’t have to deal with any of the inner ear structure. Maybe that’s why I’ve avoided dogs with upright ears until this point. I’ll work through it slowly, little bit by little bit….
A little progress
Charlie is slowly emerging on the paper. At least, I think it’s him! His colors are tough to match with my current stash of charcoal/pastels. He has beautiful fawn colored marking tinged with a light rusty brown. We will see where it all ends up. Maybe his coat will take on a completely different color allContinue reading “A little progress”
Two Feet
This morning we went out on a 3+mile walk with the dogs during a sun break. It was warm enough to shed rain gear and expose arms and faces. We’ve been getting pelted with storms, one after the other. Lots of rain and wind. Too bad it’s not stacking up the snow in the mountains.Continue reading “Two Feet”
A foot behind
I was a tad tired last night and didn’t want to wander downstairs to compose this post. I’ve been attempting to de-clutter the house of 20 years accumulation. So many items are already in the donation piles, loads being recycled and even some stuff is heading right into the trash. While poking around in aContinue reading “A foot behind”
Shorebird
I was reading online about the February drawing challenge. One sketch/drawing a day for 28 days. Since I really need something to keep me motivated, I’ve decided to give it a try. My studio has been undergoing a bit of a cleaning and I ran across a photo of a sandpiper (or something similar)Continue reading “Shorebird”
Mural start
Above is the 19.5 feet of background mural/collage. It’s started, but still a long ways to go (but not too long!) Yes, I’ve decided to do some of the hills in collage with paper used in the project. It seemed appropriate to incorporate paper in some sense. It’s been a crazy hectic week and I’llContinue reading “Mural start”
Productive day
It was quite the day. I worked on finally finishing off part of the purple flowers with gold stamens. Now I need to create more stamens and cover them in gold leaf. The doors started receiving some drawing tests. That’s Mary’s peak on the right. It happens to be the highest peak of the coastContinue reading “Productive day”
