2019 Art Acquisition Grant

Today, the official announcement went up on the Oregon Arts Commission website listing the 2019 Art Acquisition Grants and my name is on the list.  The City of Halsey were not able to raise enough funds to cover the cost of “From the Land”. They applied for a small grant to fund the remainderContinue reading “2019 Art Acquisition Grant”

Feeling chuffed

It’s official! I have art on permanent public display in the council chambers of Halsey Oregon. Wow, I just can’t believe it’s really there and installed, plus giving the space a more dramatic sense. The photos are from Hilary Norton, City of Halsey administrator/recorder. The work was installed yesterday. I’ll hopefully head down next weekContinue reading “Feeling chuffed”

Moby Forest continues…

Isn’t it done YET??? Oh my goodness!!! I’m just furious with myself for not getting things moving and out the door! What the heck is wrong with me??? I guess life keeps rearing up and stalling progress forward.  The next book is on it’s way… So, what’s been happening? Well, more coastal stuff, trying toContinue reading “Moby Forest continues…”

Removing the Sculpture

All good things must come to an end, even temporary wall sculptures. Art in Rural Communities 2016-2017 was installed for 5 months in Halsey Oregon. Monday morning I removed my portion, “From the Land”, and brought it home. Was it a success? How does one measure a success?? It’s difficult to tell from a smallContinue reading “Removing the Sculpture”

A New Year

After an almost 2+ month break, I’ve decided that it’s a good time to get back into a blogging routine. The holidays are over. Winter is very much here. The studio is aching  for attention from me! 2016 certainly held several projects with art and life: Art in Rural Communities is still up and goingContinue reading “A New Year “

The Install of “From the Land”

It’s been several days since the actual installation and I’m finally feeling rested enough to show some photos! It was a beautiful warm fall day and a 20 ft long blank canvas! Walter B and Hester Coucke (The Arts Center Curator) were hard at work hanging the informational signage. Starting off seemed pretty simple. LayContinue reading “The Install of “From the Land””

Push to the end

This small strip pretty much says it all. The project is coming soon. Very soon. Like, the 20th of September for my work. Two weeks from now. And yes, I’m in the freak-out stage of work. I spent several days scraping off aluminum burs and ragged plastic parts on all 8 major squares. Not aContinue reading “Push to the end”

Onward!

Far Right Panel Idea: I’m pushing myself forward as the new week approaches. Sunday afternoon I sat down and did a quick and inaccurate cut of a barn, fields, and Mary’s Peak in the background. I didn’t even really think about all the perspective lines and where the true horizon line should be located. I’llContinue reading “Onward!”

First 8

Somehow, I’ve managed to get to this point, completing the first 8 panels for the Halsey project. The actual wall placement isn’t correct yet, but there’s still more to figure out. The Meadowfoam flowers completed the set. Interestingly, here at home the city has been working on the water main/meter for the past 3 days.Continue reading “First 8”

Three out of Four

Progress continues forward as energy levels fade. Three out of four pairs are now cut. The wheat image (upper right) was completed today after almost four days of work. Granted, the work wasn’t continuous. I burned out after the first four squares and had a difficult time trying to move forward. This type of projectContinue reading “Three out of Four”
