A rather goofy looking frog drawing but there is a history to it. Long ago (probably back in the 50’s/60’s) someone in my family, possibly my grandmother, purchased a couple of sets of placemats and napkins from the local arts center. These placemats had a formline frog image. Both she and my parents had aContinue reading “Formline frogs and other disasters”

Weekend Work
Memorial day and a long weekend. Rain, wind and nasty weather. Perfect for indoor work. Saturday, I dragged my husband into see the print/ceramics show for it’s final day. I was delighted to find one of the prints had sold. Mr Moby snoozing in the chair caught someone’s attention enough to move into their home.Continue reading “Weekend Work”
What a week! Yikes!
Oh man, what a week! It was filled with drama, beauty, fun and icky stuff and I’m super glad it’s finished! This weeks highlights: Saturday Breakfast: Egg quesadilla with chicken, avocado and tomatillo salsa! Thanks Dave for the yummy creation without cheese! Saturday afternoon I worked for the Arts Center from noon to 5pm. TheContinue reading “What a week! Yikes!”
Wait! I thought it was spring?!
Mother nature is certainly having some change of plans in the state of Oregon, well, everywhere I guess. Today, being the second day of spring, we are accumulating snow. Yes, that’s right, SNOW! This is extremely unusual for our area and the last noticeable snow was on March 1st. Now it’s the 21st and weContinue reading “Wait! I thought it was spring?!”
Sea Squirt Assortment
Opening the kiln on Sunday morning was surprising. My little squirts had attached themselves to the shelf stilts and required quite a bit of attention to free them. A few tipped over and joined in an intimate kiss. Ah, another good learning experience. Don’t use kiln stilts that were given to you & you don’tContinue reading “Sea Squirt Assortment”
The start of another week
Projects. So many to choose from and all involving some sort of due date. So where do I start this week? It all depends. If the project feels like mental torture, I’ll avoid it. For example: last week creating bowls seemed to be at the bottom of my list even though there happens to beContinue reading “The start of another week”
Buttons & Trillium
Wow, what happened to my day? My big sister came for an afternoon visit & plans shifted. Two weeks ago she & I had started talking about creating ceramic buttons. We found some sweet hand made ones at the new yarn shop in Corvallis. I said “We can make those and have Kirsten (her daughter)Continue reading “Buttons & Trillium”
Bowls and prints out the door!
I had a few side emails from friends & family wondering how the bowls turned out. Nothing exploded in the kiln, which is a good thing! They were plopped into the kiln on the damp side after glazing. Those muffled thuds must have come from the neighbors house, not my garage. This is all aContinue reading “Bowls and prints out the door!”
Sea Squirts
Opening the kiln was fun this morning, especially when I found this little guy. He was the best looking of the group so his photo had to be taken. He can rest on your desk or even hang from the wall (due to the hole on his underside). I might just need to make moreContinue reading “Sea Squirts”
Kiln findings
It’s been well over a year since opening the kiln last and I was surprised to find work waiting to be fired. Two mugs, a canister that was supposed to be a tea pot, trials of some printmaking techniques and a few crazy sea squirt creations. Back in the winter of 2009, I had theContinue reading “Kiln findings”
