Mid December Push

I’m not sure what brought about the current flurry of activity, but I’ve actually settled into the studio for work. What’s been created? Well, numerous wool laundry ball orders have been finished and sent (sparking a focus on how to package the product plus labeling). Seven long legged felted gnome sculptures were also created andContinue reading “Mid December Push”

Digging, Harvesting, Rats, and Wool

This has been a busy week and my body is complaining about everything tackled. Digging:  We’ve been having a touch of cooler weather and rain which makes for perfect gardening sessions. I’ve finally gathered up enough energy to get out and start tackling both boxes this season. The herbs (rosemary, sage, cat mint, and chives)Continue reading “Digging, Harvesting, Rats, and Wool”

Felting a small dog

Harry was a funny Pomeranian cross that belonged to my nieces mom-in-law. He just passed away after 18 wonderful years with Patty and Dave. The block he’s sitting on is 5″x 5″ (12.7cm x12.7cm). I’m still very much a beginner with trying to figure out the whole armature  to dog type ratio works. Harry hadContinue reading “Felting a small dog”

Yellow Ocher

There’s always something in the works at our house! When you can’t order what you want, make it yourself! Sunday I decided to make my own yellow wool for chicks, ducks, and bumblebees. The process is pretty straight forward. Have 100 grams of wool. Take 6 cups of cold water plus 2 tablespoons of whiteContinue reading “Yellow Ocher”

Peep, Cluck and Baaa

We made it through week 2 of Stay-at-Home/ Pandemic time! Creative energy took a different shift yet again. I can blame the online-felt-along: Chicks. Creating birds is completely new to me, especially with their thin legs and crazy feet. This challenge helped me grasp wrapping bird feet and setting up a wax station to keepContinue reading “Peep, Cluck and Baaa”

Angora-ish rabbit

Yesterday I managed to finish off the rabbit and I’m pretty happy with this little guy. Still have plenty more to learn! I’ll start the next rendition tomorrow. Today I completed the faces for the final batch of lamb wool dryer balls. All they need now is a wash, dry, box up and offContinue reading “Angora-ish rabbit”

Backyard Wildlife Book Collaboration

Two years ago I created a hand-made book full of blank pages for 4 other artists (plus myself) to fill in. The title was “Backyard Wildlife” and totally open for the other artists to interpret this idea. We all live in different parts of the world: Karen and Anna are in Australia, Rebecca in Sweden,Continue reading “Backyard Wildlife Book Collaboration”

Post Safari Ideas

It’s been 6 weeks since returning from Africa and not a peep from me regarding the trip. I managed to take thousands of images which have still yet to be figured out. Some images have already been sent off to become a 2020 calendar, others are starting to form ideas for future printmaking endeavors. FriendsContinue reading “Post Safari Ideas”

Anemone Lamp progress

*Lamp design for About Light show in November at The Arts Center of Corvallis* Design Progress: It’s Wednesday September 4th and the clock is ticking down. Somehow I managed to stash myself inside the studio and force ideas onto actual paper with blade. Having a few parts started helps immensely. Shifting things around on theContinue reading “Anemone Lamp progress”

A little more work

I’m finally sitting back down in the studio to work on the dog drawing. It’s definitely a work in progress. Ears, eyes, nose, and mouth zone keep shifting as more information gets laid down. Life has been a jumble of so many things that I’ve had a hard time sorting out daily tasks. Arthritis flair-upsContinue reading “A little more work”
