Starting disclaimer: I am not a woodworker! Anything I do in wood is a bit crude so be patient! The end product will look pretty good. Tool supply is limited too. Rather than jumping into this project with Black Walnut, I created a test using poplar. It was ok for a test, certainly not forContinue reading “Reliquary Project: The Test”

An Evening with Carl & Alexandra Day
It’s not often one gets an opportunity to meet and spend a couple of hours with a famous author. Thanks to the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, artist and illustrator Alexandra Day flew in from Seattle for a brief visit. She is best known for the childrens series based on adventures of a baby and “Carl”Continue reading “An Evening with Carl & Alexandra Day”
Old blog
Back in 2005 I started my first blog on blogspot. Probably like a lot of bloggers, it went for a couple of months then stopped. The initial hope was to use it for displaying artwork, kind of like this blog. However, I wasn’t quite ready to put myself out there. It’s still there… not aContinue reading “Old blog”
OUR Fest!
The first annual Our Fest was a hit! The group met a Hacienda Possada for a beautiful day under the sun (+90 deg). Shannon taught the first class on gourd art. 4E projects….
For some reason I still have my goddess project hanging around the house. Hopefully it will be reunited with it’s box next week at OurFest. You might swear at the cause, your stupidity for leaving it vulnerable, or swearContinue reading “Death of the Ceramic Kimono”
Charcoal drawing experiment: Pelican
Such fascinating birds when one sits down and tries to draw them. Charcoal and Rives paper (or is it Arches?)

Bookbinding at Sitka with Ann Kresge- Part 1
Back to reality from 3 glorious days at Sitka. What a wonderful place to go. I highly recommend taking a workshop there. Great staff, incredible location, good facilities and wonderful instructors. I took a workshop from print/bookmaker Ann Kresge on the basics of bookbinding. I needed this workshop a couple of years ago, but I’mContinue reading “Bookbinding at Sitka with Ann Kresge- Part 1”
Gyotaku with Rubber Fish
On Saturday night after going out for dinner and a movie with friends, Tracie took me to her car and passed off a big grocery bag full of rubber fish. WOW! I was so excited! Tracie teaches 4th grade at an elementary school here in Albany. She is gearing up to change schools so everythingContinue reading “Gyotaku with Rubber Fish”
