Two birds with color

Household illnesses have certainly slowed down studio time. Monday I jumped in on the warbler, popping blues and yellow in WC, then topping with colored pencil and micron pen. Monday night was critique group meeting and I actually had something to share!  Today I started adding touches to the Chickadee. The slow progress is partlyContinue reading “Two birds with color”

Warbler work

Today I wasn’t feeling terribly well. Not sure if pollen is the problem, which there certainly is plenty floating around, or a virus. Coughing, low energy, almost missed my physical therapy appointment. So, I haven’t pushed forward with much drawing today. What I did accomplish was changing the ugly wren start in the upper rightContinue reading “Warbler work”

Rainy day work

Spring is here and the print is moving forward. Kind of. I always have such angst about carving away more and more of the block. The ear has yet to receive much attention. The feet are unresolved. I feel like adding screen print color over the image. Maybe sleeping on it will present a clearContinue reading “Rainy day work”

Starting Inside/Outside the Box

I think I’m glad to have signed up for the upcoming show Inside/Outside the Box at The Arts Center in Corvallis. Part of me has really struggled with sitting down to produce something, anything. My brain has been so immersed in house projects that I haven’t been creating artwork since spring. So, it seems fittingContinue reading “Starting Inside/Outside the Box”

Removing the Sculpture

All good things must come to an end, even temporary wall sculptures. Art in Rural Communities 2016-2017 was installed for 5 months in Halsey Oregon. Monday morning I removed my portion, “From the Land”, and brought it home. Was it a success? How does one measure a success?? It’s difficult to tell from a smallContinue reading “Removing the Sculpture”

The Install of “From the Land”

It’s been several days since the actual installation and I’m finally feeling rested enough to show some photos! It was a beautiful warm fall day and a 20 ft long blank canvas! Walter B and Hester Coucke (The Arts Center Curator) were hard at work hanging the informational signage. Starting off seemed pretty simple. LayContinue reading “The Install of “From the Land””

Getting Closer

I’m working like crazy to get the project completed by this Friday. Why Friday? Because I want the weekend to myself! I’m so tired of the whole thing. Yet, I have to keep plugging along and try to forget those negative thoughts as they arise. Today I started bracing parts together. What does that mean?Continue reading “Getting Closer”

Push to the end

This small strip pretty much says it all. The project is coming soon. Very soon. Like, the 20th of September for my work. Two weeks from now. And yes, I’m in the freak-out stage of work. I spent several days scraping off aluminum burs and ragged plastic parts on all 8 major squares. Not aContinue reading “Push to the end”

Onward!

Far Right Panel Idea: I’m pushing myself forward as the new week approaches. Sunday afternoon I sat down and did a quick and inaccurate cut of a barn, fields, and Mary’s Peak in the background. I didn’t even really think about all the perspective lines and where the true horizon line should be located. I’llContinue reading “Onward!”

First 8

Somehow, I’ve managed to get to this point, completing the first 8 panels for the Halsey project. The actual wall placement isn’t correct yet, but there’s still more to figure out. The Meadowfoam flowers completed the set. Interestingly, here at home the city has been working on the water main/meter for the past 3 days.Continue reading “First 8”
