Bug taking shape

Holes and crazy bugs are taking shape on the iris stalks. Progress is in super slow mode. The colors have become a tad wild for my normal sense of life, but it works. Fingers crossed for another chance tomorrow afternoon for additional work. Off to cook dinner! Drawing: colored pencil, watercolor, micron pen and pencil.

More Seedpod work

The end of January is quickly approaching and more progress is happening on Anna’s page. I hadn’t actually read through the introduction page since opening the package…..and WOW, I’m so horribly off topic from what it was supposed to be. Edible Plants! Eat Me is the title! What happened in my brain??! These are seriouslyContinue reading “More Seedpod work”

And a bit more

It’s Monday in my brain, but Tuesday according to the calendar. That’s what happens on extended holiday weekends! I spent a few hours puzzling on the drawing more with pencil and micron pen. Then I couldn’t wait to drop a touch of watercolor onto the stark page. The dogs are rattling the door wanting aContinue reading “And a bit more”

slow development

A new year and I’m finally pushing forward with completing the much delayed book stack. This is the third rendition for Anna’s book. I won’t mention what the other two subjects were because the season is long gone. Since winter is here, I only have dried iris pods hanging around the back yard that spokeContinue reading “slow development”

Warbler work

Today I wasn’t feeling terribly well. Not sure if pollen is the problem, which there certainly is plenty floating around, or a virus. Coughing, low energy, almost missed my physical therapy appointment. So, I haven’t pushed forward with much drawing today. What I did accomplish was changing the ugly wren start in the upper rightContinue reading “Warbler work”

Page layout start

WARNING If you are one of the other 4 participants in the book collaboration, hide your eyes and ignore this post! I’m horrible and just can’t keep from sharing the start. Please forgive me! This is the starting pencil sketch. Color will be added in the form of colored pencil and watercolors. I still haveContinue reading “Page layout start”

Patterns in Nature – Forests

I can finally reveal Karen Bailey’s book at this time! It’s a subject that really grabbed me from the start, since I do a bit of forest work already, but had the most difficult time figuring out what to contribute. Basically, too many ideas! Above is the outer cover of the book created by Karen. The coverContinue reading “Patterns in Nature – Forests”

Digitalis Seedpods

Oh so close! The final drawing is coming together. Yes, I’m ashamed to say I’m still working on Karen’s book. Things in life have piled up causing artistic momentum to falter. Mini vacation, family crap, more family crap and more stuff that clouded my brain. At least I’m not in an arm brace after a jarringContinue reading “Digitalis Seedpods”

Not my normal style

Have you ever created something and then thought “Who made that? It doesn’t look like me!” But then what is me? And how does ME come forward without experimenting with different ideas? Last night I pondered this “me” moment after working on the above page. Creating something for another person always puts a self-imposed level ofContinue reading “Not my normal style”

Half way there

It’s Monday afternoon and I’m just getting back home after several hours in Eugene with my brother. This is day 2 for the week, having spent Sunday afternoon taking him shopping and for a nice drive through the Rhododendron Garden. The Rhodies are still going, but it’s certainly past peak bloom. The paper project hadContinue reading “Half way there”
