Here we are on March 17, 2019 and it truly feels like spring! Topping out at almost 70, we spent the day house cleaning and clearing brush in the backyard. I finished Anna’s book page yesterday and packed it up today for Cathe. So overdue, but I’m happy with what’s being sent forward (which isContinue reading “Warmth and sunshine”

And a bit more
It’s Monday in my brain, but Tuesday according to the calendar. That’s what happens on extended holiday weekends! I spent a few hours puzzling on the drawing more with pencil and micron pen. Then I couldn’t wait to drop a touch of watercolor onto the stark page. The dogs are rattling the door wanting aContinue reading “And a bit more”
Progress?
I have been swamped with quite a variety of things since posting back in June: kitten time, health issues, home challenges, and to top it off the upcoming sale of our family’s coastal home in September. The book progress has been at a standstill as I attempt to get through theses different tasks. I’m horribleContinue reading “Progress?”
Backyard Wildlife Book
Today, the start of my book titled “Backyard Wildlife” was packed up and sent to Minnesota for the next addition of artwork! Horray!!!! Concertina Book Collaboration 2018! Background: The group was formed through blogging. (Yes, there really can be some cool connections made through blogs!) The first book collaboration started in 2015. It included 4Continue reading “Backyard Wildlife Book”
Still not finished…
After several weeks of illness, I’m finally cracking on with the book. A deer appeared in the upper left section because I’ve been seeing quite a few grazing in the far back. The does are still pregnant, last years fawns still lingering, and bucks are just sprouting antlers (more like fuzzy nobs at this stage).Continue reading “Still not finished…”
More Progress
I’m determined to get Anna’s book completed by years end. So, that would be by tomorrow night! Yikes! Nothing like a good deadline to move projects along. This holiday break has been scattered due to Dave’s week off. It hasn’t been a “week off” because work tasks were incomplete prior to Christmas. Supposedly he’sContinue reading “More Progress “
Collections Project
The Collections collaboration book is finally ready to leave the desk! A feeling of relief washed over me as I completed the last portion of the book. It was started by Minnesota artist Cathe Jacobi. You can check out her blog Amaryllislog HERE. Her book was the first to arrive and I now have a taste of adding work intoContinue reading “Collections Project”
Half Spread
Finally a touch of wild colors and crazy things. Along with the urchin test and magnolia seedpod, I’ve added a weird drawing utensil. At least, I think it’s a drawing tool! It’s from the strange collection acquired by my dad and his mother. Eventually the bones will show themselves on the other page…., well, maybe. So farContinue reading “Half Spread”
Seedpods and Tests
Slowly, things are emerging on the full page spread, starting with pencil and eventually moving into color. I pulled out a magnolia seedpod and urchin test (yes, that’s the official name for the shell). Both of these items spend a most of their time situated directly below my computer screen, an area that is deemedContinue reading “Seedpods and Tests”
Crazy attempts
I was a tad overly ambitious attempting waves for my full page spread. Especially when I don’t work in watercolors. Nor have I ever attempted anything water related before. I think a little addition of black micron pen might aid the situation. However, it reads really well from a distance, actually looking like waves. I’llContinue reading “Crazy attempts”
