A little more work

I’m finally sitting back down in the studio to work on the dog drawing. It’s definitely a work in progress. Ears, eyes, nose, and mouth zone keep shifting as more information gets laid down. Life has been a jumble of so many things that I’ve had a hard time sorting out daily tasks. Arthritis flair-upsContinue reading “A little more work”

Boston Shift

I’m not sure where I’m heading, but I needed to start a larger drawing. I’ve spent loads of time researching ideas and keep coming back to the desire of drawing animals on a bit larger scale. This isn’t super large (paper dimensions: 45 mm x 61 mm), but it might get my energy flowing. TheContinue reading “Boston Shift”

Finished and moving on

Whew! I actually completed an artwork. Next up is the book collaboration and possibly another print exchange in Castlemaine Australia (thanks to my art friend Karen!) The book paper is folded and ready for sketches! Ideas should start attaching to paper today. The weather continues to slowly warm, flowers and trees are blooming, green surroundsContinue reading “Finished and moving on”

Rainy day work

Spring is here and the print is moving forward. Kind of. I always have such angst about carving away more and more of the block. The ear has yet to receive much attention. The feet are unresolved. I feel like adding screen print color over the image. Maybe sleeping on it will present a clearContinue reading “Rainy day work”

Empty Bowl Start

Two projects on the table: It took quite a while to figure out an image for Wingtip Press Leftovers Print Exchange due at the end of March. Finally the drawing has moved to the soft block and cutting commenced! The print is actually looking a bit like my boy Moby! Since the exchange will benefitContinue reading “Empty Bowl Start”

Madame Grump

We are still waiting for winter in Oregon. Yes, it’s mid February, but somehow we’ve missed out on all the powerful storms and snowfall. With the lack of winter comes an early flea/tic season. The dogs received oral flea medication back on Monday after discovering a multitude of “friends” on Hazel. Today I pinched aContinue reading “Madame Grump”

Sheep Time

The deadline is approaching for submitting to the Leftover’s Print Exchange and one is finally moving forward! I’m using soft block for creating an image to speed things up. A few more tweaks and I’ll call it quits. I think! The image is of my favorite sheep buddy named Tractor. He’s a Jacob’s Sheep, knownContinue reading “Sheep Time”

More waiting

It’s Thursday and I’m waiting for multiple things. Here’s the list: The cat went on walkabout and hasn’t returned home. I’m worried. My husband is heading to Texas and I’m waiting for him to get back from work so I can drive him to the airport. The results from the jury process for Art inContinue reading “More waiting”

Relearning printing

Whew! The print is finally finished with an edition of 15. This was certainly a relearning experience that I won’t soon forget. I managed to create 14 prints before I realized I needed to be polishing the negative space around the dog in order to achieve a clean print. Why it took me that long,Continue reading “Relearning printing”

Waiting For Breakfast

Halfway through the edition I realized that the recycled print paper is changing how the image comes out. I chose to tear apart old test proofs from an India series of screen prints from university days. The backs are beautiful and pretty clean, unfortunately  I can tell where the screen print starts and stops onContinue reading “Waiting For Breakfast”
