Color 4 and half way there

The two old friends are really starting to show their stuff. There are some mistakes here and there, but I don’t think the average person will notice them. Glenn’s thumb became a tad lost in the screen filler. I can tell when I’m really off by the sides of Glenn’s glasses or Julie’s teeth. TheContinue reading “Color 4 and half way there”

Color 3 down

After several days of interruptions, I managed to carve out a bit of time Sunday afternoon for printing color 3 on Julie & Glenn. Since this is a larger image and more complex, it takes quite a while to block in with screen filler. I judge time by how many CD’s I go through. ThisContinue reading “Color 3 down”

To go or not to go…

On Saturday and email popped up from an art friend Amy Nack of WingTip Press in Boise ID, regarding an upcoming workshop. The teacher is a fabulous artist I’ve been blog following for the past several years. Yes, Rose Davies, aka Rosie Scribblah is coming within 500 miles of me to teach a drawing/printmaking workshop.Continue reading “To go or not to go…”

Julie and Glenn: day 2

Having an 80 lb dog trying to snuggle while writing is a bit impossible! But here we go. I managed to pull one color today. I hoped for more but other issues popped up (trust related & renter stuff  that’s really icky compared to getting art done). The dog agrees with this too. An apologyContinue reading “Julie and Glenn: day 2”

Orange to Brown

Monday was a good printing day.  I managed to pop out 3 colors on the new Moby Lick image. Sunday I started with pink. Monday started with a peachy/burnt orange color then moved to reddish brown and finally a chocolate brown. Peachy burnt orange over pink. Next color (reddish brown) Final color today. So far,Continue reading “Orange to Brown”

Starting Zeek

Dog Block print#5. Oh, my dear fuzzy friend Zeek.  He’s become quite a lovely Labradoodle as he’s grown up. His big brother Reggie was my second attempt at doggie block prints.  Now it’s time for this curly guy. The image was taken last fall during my dad’s wake. Working from the photo, I transferred theContinue reading “Starting Zeek”

Screen Woes

I feel like I’ve stacked the deck for failure with this print by incorporating way too many variables. First, I chose to use a different screen and registration system. Both of which are yielding enormous headaches on their own. Then I chose an image with  multiple value changes. Not a horrible thing, but certainly moreContinue reading “Screen Woes”

Sunday colors

I got a break from dog walking/care today. My husband took Moby out for a huge walk at Peavy.  Sunshine and beautiful blue sky, though it’s not super warm. This break allowed me to stay home and work through a few colors on the next screen print. Not feeling the love on color 3, butContinue reading “Sunday colors”

Mystery screen: color 3

Here is color 3: Since this is the beginning of the year and I’m trying to get myself better organized, I’ve started to finally keep notes on paper I like for printmaking. So far, my preference is leaning heavily to BFK Rives for screen and etching processes. It accepts ink evenly yet continues to layContinue reading “Mystery screen: color 3”

Discovering Lost Blocks

April is looming! Especially since I have a 2 person show of dog prints and my print portfolio hasn’t increased much over the past year. You may think that’s months away, right?  Well, I don’t work quickly on prints when my brain is taxed with other events. To help clear mental cobwebs, I spent aContinue reading “Discovering Lost Blocks”
