Noodle Doodle

I now know why I don’t sketch around the house. Both doodles and Moby work hard at trying to remove pen and sketchbook from my grasp. Moby was overly enthusiastic today, jumping up and placing his paws on my chest. Reggie was trying to shove his ball on the sketchbook. Hint hint!  I guess theContinue reading “Noodle Doodle”

Sunsets and a new year

Happy New Year! I’ve managed to spend the last couple of days in bed ill. Not may favorite way to start a new year. On Thursday night we had one of the most spectacular sunsets. Very interesting cloud formations with gold, pinks, oranges and violets extending over the valley. Stunning! The new year started withContinue reading “Sunsets and a new year”

Mug Experiment

I must admit, it’s rather strange seeing my artwork placed upon a generic white coffee/tea mug. One of my local art friends had recommended Zazzle as a good resource for creating functional ware with your own art images. So I thought “What the heck, I might as well give it a try to see whatContinue reading “Mug Experiment”

Formline frogs and other disasters

A rather goofy looking frog drawing but there is a history to it. Long ago (probably back in the 50’s/60’s) someone in my family, possibly my grandmother, purchased a couple of sets of placemats and napkins from the local arts center. These placemats had a formline frog image. Both she and my parents had aContinue reading “Formline frogs and other disasters”

The creature…

from the mud lagoon appeared in the yard today. Ya never know what you’ll find after the snow melts. Oh my, he has interesting feet… He looks awful happy… should I bring him inside??? Just look at those cute mud dreadlocks hanging from his face!!! Now the realization sets in that he’s up S***T creekContinue reading “The creature…”

Cold

Bone chilling temperatures are not part of our typical winter vocabulary here in the  Willamette Valley. Our normal December highs are in the mid 40’s, lows in the mid 30’s. Over the past 10 days we’ve been below freezing (day and night) with several nights reaching low single digits and even sub temps. Tuesday wasContinue reading “Cold”

Slogging & Release!

Another one bites the dust! That’s the problem with artwork, sometimes it just doesn’t survive critters or husband. The Oregon Rain vessel took a nose dive off the windowsill thanks to overly barkey dogs yesterday. Dave went to open the window to yell at them and the vase jumped. Maybe it’s a good thing. ItContinue reading “Slogging & Release!”

Red Hood

Today is my birthday and I decided to do something for ME! No estate items, bills, worrying about stuff that needs to be accomplished. It’s my day and I spent it working on a charcoal drawing I’ve wanted to do for years. Oh yes, it does involve a dog. Back in 2007, I took aContinue reading “Red Hood”

Unpacking

Sunday night I packed everything up from Judith’s studio and headed home. This last weekend was a mixed bag, a super busy Saturday but Sunday was a bit slower (ultra slow in sales). We had a great time talking with lots of people. I have to admit, chatting to people about my work is difficult.Continue reading “Unpacking”

Pumpkin Carving

Life is just flying by and I can’t believe the week is almost over. Wednesday we had Round#2 of preview tours for the open studio event. Incredible weather and a fabulous group of artists, I couldn’t have asked for a better night out. If you don’t get the opportunity to see me this weekend, haveContinue reading “Pumpkin Carving”
