Unfinished Moby

Some days one gets inspired and then it fades…. So was the case with the Moby image today. He was laying on a sofa with his paws dangling off the edge and head resting at an odd angle over one of the fore legs. I started with graphite and never quite captured his nose and eyesContinue reading “Unfinished Moby”

Coastal Research & Weeding

Over Memorial Weekend, we stayed in Yachats at the family house. We spent a large majority of the weekend working on yard chores, but we did take a good break Sunday for a little forest research. Cape Perpetua is situated a few miles south of Yachats along Hwy 101. There are numerous trails and a great visitorContinue reading “Coastal Research & Weeding”

Support Crew

Life continues to drift in and out of days spent with my brother in Eugene and trying to recuperate from energy spent towards him. I’ve had since Friday “off” but it’s now Sunday and I’m just starting to feel like possibly doing something creative. Friday, I was fortunate to spend a bit of time helpingContinue reading “Support Crew”

March Quiet

The month of March will be quiet for my blogging output. There are numerous things shifting and moving around in life. The main thing was having the boys leave our home after 19 months. Zeek and Reggie have move back to Bend. Nigel cats was thrilled to come back inside and resume ownership of his domain. I wasContinue reading “March Quiet”

Sipping wine

Springhill cellars is our local winery. How local? It’s about 1.5 miles from our house, maybe a bit less. They offer Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Port and Fedeweisser (only during the Thanksgiving weekend!). For the past 6 years, we have made it our after-Thanksgiving tradition to walk to the vineyard for a wine tasting. ThanksgivingContinue reading “Sipping wine”

Coastal Break

We took an extended break in Yachats last weekend to try and recuperate from everything. We both had been stricken with some horrible nasty cold thing from the previous weekend (out with people and small children at the Evergreen Air and Space Museum). Fortunately, the coast was warm and super sunny Fri through Sun. MondayContinue reading “Coastal Break”

Squirrel?

This winter I resumed feeding the wild birds for the enjoyment of it. The cats no longer have access to the area since it’s regularly patrolled by the canine pack. The birds are abundant and new furry faces are showing up. We’ve had a few squirrels visit the deck and surrounding trees over the pastContinue reading “Squirrel?”

Cold

Bone chilling temperatures are not part of our typical winter vocabulary here in the  Willamette Valley. Our normal December highs are in the mid 40’s, lows in the mid 30’s. Over the past 10 days we’ve been below freezing (day and night) with several nights reaching low single digits and even sub temps. Tuesday wasContinue reading “Cold”

Setting Records and the Cone of Shame

Both dogs made it through their surgeries and are home. The vet and crew experienced how stubborn Mr Moby can be. He went into “freak out” mode which involves a high level of adrenaline running through his body. This made it more difficult to put him under than expected.  In the end, he set aContinue reading “Setting Records and the Cone of Shame”

Vet time

I’ve been a giant slacker with blog posting due to our crazy household and lack of art creation. We just passed the Week 2 mark with the new dogs. They’re acclimating but I’ve never experienced such horrible dog breath in my life!! These two enjoy giving smooches and breathing right in your face. Blech! WasContinue reading “Vet time”
