Two years ago I created a hand-made book full of blank pages for 4 other artists (plus myself) to fill in. The title was “Backyard Wildlife” and totally open for the other artists to interpret this idea. We all live in different parts of the world: Karen and Anna are in Australia, Rebecca in Sweden,Continue reading “Backyard Wildlife Book Collaboration”

Moby Head Completed!
As I mentioned before, somewhere during this blogging experience, process is what drives me forward with any project. I find it amazing that laying down line after line, one can create an image that seems to work. Above is the full slideshow of Moby’s head from start to finish. Not all of my photos areContinue reading “Moby Head Completed!”
Isn’t He Done Yet?
Why do I keep picking at this image? It keeps festering on the drawingboard, receiving more marks in different areas, resolving questionable zones. I think I’m finally satisfied enough with his nose and the pencil is moving down into the muzzle zone. His chin hair is crazy! Do I really try to capture it orContinue reading “Isn’t He Done Yet?”
Moby continues
A bit more work today on my crazy boy. Moby is slowly emerging from his favorite blue chair. I don’t think I’ll add color to him directly, just the blue chair and shadow. I’ll have to wrap him up by Friday so other projects can get underway. Graphite pencil and watercolor
Starting the final book
Finally, it’s started!! The drawing has quite a ways to go, but at least the pencil has hit the page. This drawing is part of the final book started by my art friend Cathe Jacobi. The book as made it around the world and has been resting on my desk for well over 1.5 years.Continue reading “Starting the final book”
Laundry sheep to Rabbit
I’ve been experimenting with lots of wool work since the beginning of January. Initially I focused on funding a new piece of equipment (a drum carder from an Oregon company) by creating needle felted wool dryer balls. Halfway through this “laundry sheep” project, I gave in and bought the equipment. Arms, shoulders and backContinue reading “Laundry sheep to Rabbit”
Border Collie completed
Slowly the “to do” list is decreasing as 2019 comes to a close. Today I dropped off this cute Border Collie destined to reside in California. I hope it brings joy to it’s new owner. The people sending it were thrilled with the pup. Hearts are happy all around! I think I’ll be pushing theContinue reading “Border Collie completed”
Post Safari Ideas
It’s been 6 weeks since returning from Africa and not a peep from me regarding the trip. I managed to take thousands of images which have still yet to be figured out. Some images have already been sent off to become a 2020 calendar, others are starting to form ideas for future printmaking endeavors. FriendsContinue reading “Post Safari Ideas”
Border Collie #3 start
Sculpture Day: Another rough dog form has taken shape. Currently the neck and tail are too long, but should be able to solve the problem before coat application. This one is heading off to another artist who is one of the most amazing calligraphers. Her mother just passed away and apparently there’s a connection betweenContinue reading “Border Collie #3 start”
Anemone Lamp progress
*Lamp design for About Light show in November at The Arts Center of Corvallis* Design Progress: It’s Wednesday September 4th and the clock is ticking down. Somehow I managed to stash myself inside the studio and force ideas onto actual paper with blade. Having a few parts started helps immensely. Shifting things around on theContinue reading “Anemone Lamp progress”
